Know the Sciences (Native) — Neem
Do you know why Indian’s worship neem tree?
Let’s get to know the secret behind this: Worshiping nature is one of the Indian traditions. Neem is the gift of nature to us; it is the Sanjeev tree of India. That is why our forefathers said that Neem tree is the most worshiped tree, and that the god resides in it. They gave neem a higher place than ‘Kalpavriksha’, the wish-fulfilling tree of Indian mythology.
In our Vedas, Neem is called Sarva Roga Nivarini. It has been considered continuous for more than several thousand years. Due to the impact of modern scientific development, many trees have lost their natural essence, and neem is one of the few trees that can sustain it.
It is reported that there are about 20 million Neem trees in India alone, one tree for every 50 Indians. (Reference: Neem Foundation website). More than 32 phytochemicals have been identified. Much of this fascinating fact is that the plant is packed with anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, anti-viral, antiseptic and immune-stimulating compounds to treat hundreds of ailments.
Neem is the most useful tree in India — It is a type of herb and its leaf, flower, pod, bark, stick and fruit all have medicinal properties. All parts of neem tree are useful for humans. Tying neem leaves in house postures and auspicious ceremonies is not only for ritual, but its science is also to prevent invisible germs from entering the house and auspicious ceremonies. That is why the neem tree has been the friend and protector of Indians.
The United States Department of Agriculture obtained a patent for neem from a European patent in 1995. Then India argued that neem has been practiced in India for more than 2000 years. In 2000, the European Patent Office ruled in favor of India and invalidated the US patent.
