Let’s know what is the science of the thread tied around the waist?

There are many unknown facts about waist thread.

First, let us know the reason for the name waist thread (Araigyaan kayiru).

Arai means hip bone area, Gyaan means to bend and tie. The thread tied in the hip bone area called Araigyaan (In Tamil).

In our custom, a person who does not wear a thread is not a full-fledged person, he is called a body without life.

All that our ancestors told us is that waist string is to protect us from negative radiations such as envy and jealousy of others. It is believed that because of the red and black color threads will destroy negative actions and protect us. Hence, the general belief is that to protect us from evil spirits.

Waist thread tying is practiced not only in India but also in Pakistan. It is customary to tie the thread from the 6th or 7th day after birth of the child. Girls wear it till they attain puppetry. Men traditionally wear it for life.

Primitive man saw waist thread useful as a weapon. We think that the primitive man used waist thread to tie his basic clothes. Apart from that they used it for tying hunting weapons, as an emergency tool and for medicinal purposes.

The reason for our forefathers forced us to wear waist thread, it is a disease prevention method.

Waist thread is believed to prevent hernial disease. It controls the blood circulation & digestive system. It also prevents Asthma, ovarian cysts, gangrene and regulates blood flow.

Hernial disease is more common in men than in women. Research indicates that 90% of hernial disease occur in men. The biggest disadvantage of body enlargement is ‘intestinal prolapse’ and this called hernia. Hence, our forefathers followed to tie waist thread to prevent this disease.

Some people tie a silver amulet with waist thread. Because what is attached to the amulet is the mother’s stem cells which are dried and stored in powder form and sealed in the amulet. This is very useful for curing any disease. This traditional process will cost us less but in hospitals it cost around 50k or more to save the stem cells.

Waist thread is used as an emergency medical weapon. While working in the fields, if bitten by poisonous insects like snakes, scorpion etc. they tie a thread as a first aid tool to prevent the poison flowing the body.

While small children bathe in rivers, ponds and wells, if they slip into the water, it is difficult to pull out as it is easy to slip out. Hence, the waist thread around the body also helps to pull them out. In villages, waist thread was also used to teach rope swimming. They used to swim by tying a saree or a rope on a waist thread

Generally speaking, we can easily know that our obesity is increasing / reducing through waist thread without weighing in the electrical weighing machine . If there is a waist rope tightening, immediately control the eating habits and do exercise. During our childhood times, the growth of the child can be seen through the waist thread.

Today, the wearing waist thread has been declined as it is considered indecent. If anyone seen wearing waist thread, it become norm to criticize him as a villager, and they will frown. The waist string is called as idle formality, it is called as blind faith.

It is important not to listen to all that mistaken thoughts anymore, the waist string / thread / guard is not a shame, it is a healthy practices that has medicinal and other benefits. It is related to our life that has real purpose.
