For many years we are practicing yoga without even knowing about it and enjoying its benefits. How do you think?

The best example is Thoppukaranam — Super Brain Yoga. As far as we are concerned, if we want to do Thoppukaranam we assume it is always a result of punishment for mistakes or to worship Lord Ganesh. Yes, it is considered as our custom. Thoppukaranam is given as a punishment for minor crimes and some mischief done by children in schools. Even today, Super Brain Yoga is a punishment in Gram Panchayats.

Our ancestors designed rituals and even punishments as a way of life for our physical health. In foreign countries, it is called “super brain yoga”. Eric Robbins, a physiotherapist from Los Angeles, says that the nerve cells in the brain will gain power by doing Thoppukaranam exercise. In India too, putting Thoppukaranam is popular in physical education, from adults to children. It is believed to increase memory and concentration in studies.

Most of the benefits of yoga are derived from the single practice of Thoppukaranam.

- Let’s also look at the scientific facts about Thoppukaranam.

- We hold our ears while doing Thoppukaranam. Especially in the earlobes there are points that connect all the organs of the body. When you hold the ears and put the Thoppukaranam, you get a stimulus for all the organs of the body to work.

- Ears are the contact points of various organs like heart, kidney, brain, stomach, eyes, lower and upper jaw, liver, ear nerve. So, all these elements are benefited when doing Thoppukaranam.

- Thoppukaranam strengthens the bones, muscles, and tissues of the waist. This can prevent hip pain.

- When standing up, the soleus muscle in the leg starts working. The soleus muscle regulates the blood flow throughout the body. It works like the muscles of the heart.

- Acupuncture points are stimulated, and the brain cells are also energized. Major changes occur in the brain during acupuncture. Thus, the brain starts working with freshness. It has been confirmed by the American Harvard University and Indian medical experts who have studied with various instruments in today’s modern way that brain neuron cells are rejuvenated through this simple exercise.

- Thoppukaranam will create power in the root of the stem.

Even diseases related to autism (autism is a developmental disorder in the nervous system of a child’s brain) have also been found to be cured by gardening. Researchers say that if you do this exercise for five minutes every day, you can see surprising results
